"Who's Afraid of Stephen King?", also known as "Shining in the Dark", with Stephen King's name written in blood in the credits, would appeal to the fans of the American writer who sends a collective shiver, down the world's spine through his horror novels. If one learnt very little about the writer's family in the film on Douglas, the one on Stephen King included brief scenes with his wife, his colleague sweetheart, who rescued King's first novel "Carrie" from the trash can and set him off on the dizzying ladder of success. Today, he is one of the richest and best-known figures in the world. "Who's Afraid of Stephen King?" was almost like a mini horror movie as it had gut-wrenching scenes of violence from films based on his books "Carrie", "Shining", "Misery" and "The Green Mile".

The documentary rested almost squarely on the extensive interviews with the writer. We have him showing us around Maine on the Canadian border, the quiet peaceful area that he has transformed in his fiction as the bloody scene of the most horrendous crimes known to human nature. Producers, directors and stars from his film discuss the writer's talent and we see the journey from slightly eccentric student who `knew exactly how to write the perfect scene' to a man on the pinnacle of success over whom the fear of blindness hangs like a grim shadow.
