Synopsis

Sorry, Right Number is based on a teleplay written by Stephen King in 1986. It is the story of Bill and Kate Weiderman. When Katie receives a disturbing phone call that gets disconnected, she starts to panic. Determined to find out who the caller is and what the message was, Katie calls everyone she can think of. After giving up hope, she one day does find out who the caller is and what this message was, in this twist-ending story in true Stephen King fashion.

When first time director, Brian Berkowitz, came across the teleplay Sorry Right Number, he knew he was meant to put it on film. The original teleplay was written by Stephen King in 1986 for episode #4.9 from Tales from the Dark Side which aired on November 22, 1987. Brian felt it was time for an upgrade of the almost twenty year old version. In the summer of 2004, Brian secured rights from author Stephen King and began working on his version of the story. After about roughly seven different drafts, in November of 2004, Brian settled on the final version. Brian then teamed up with Producer Bo Buckley of AMVF Production based out of Wilmington, North Carolina, and all the preproduction began. Along with Co-Producer Eric Holloway, Bo spent the next several weeks securing the crew, including three-time Telly award winning Director of Photography Matt Mosher. In early January 2005, auditions were held and the cast of Sorry Right Number was named. Bo, Brian, and Matt spent the month of January preparing for the shoot, including the last minute decision to switch from video to film. Brian and Matt decided to shoot on super-8, an almost ancient film stock among film makers. They felt that the super-8 will would help achieve the "Stephen King" feel and would help bring back a film that is almost long lost. Production began at the end of January in Wilmington, North Carolina. After five heavy days of shooting, the production wrapped.
