The dollar baby "Gotham Cafe" is based on King's story "Lunch At The Gotham Cafe" which first appeared in a collection titled "Dark Love", first published as hardcover in 1995 by Roc. It was edited by Nancy A.Collins, Edward F.Cramer and Martin H.Greenberg.

After reviewing a rough cut of Gotham Café, Stephen King has graciously allowed Turtle Bay Entertainment to change the movie's title to "Stephen King's Gotham Café".

This is a rare honor to have his name in the official title! Among his 86 film adaptations Stephen King's Gotham Café would be only the eighth time Mr. King has authorized use of his name in the complete title according to IMDB.

In Stephen King's Gotham Cafe one of the characters is Mr. Ring, Steve's attorney. Coincidentally in real life an attorney named Mr. Ring is an associate producer on the film. In Gotham Cafe Mr. Ring's voice is heard over the phone talking to Steve telling him to reschedule the meeting with his wife. Stephen King has performed an audio cameo performing the role of Mr. Ring. This is the first ever cameo in a Dollar Baby for Stephen and his first audio cameo in film.

Bev Vincent: "I can now add another title to my list of literary accomplishments: screenwriter. I am the co-writer of the script for an upcoming dollar baby based on Lunch at the Gotham Cafe. We're calling it just Gotham Cafe to make it a little flashier."

Gotham Cafe explores our innate pettiness in the face of real tragedies and hardships. When we think our day is going bad, there is invariably something worse happening to someone else. Based on Lunch At The Gotham Cafe from Stephen King's best-selling collection, Everything's Eventual.
