The first project to come out of our North Carolina-based startup KWerky Productions, Forcery is a film that was almost four years in the making prior to its release in early June 2005. The brainchild of KWerky co-founder Christopher Knight, Forcery is a parody of Rob Reiner's film adaptation of Stephen King's Misery. The 1990 thriller, based on King's own experiences with obsessed fans, is widely considered to be one of the stand-out thrillers of the Nineties. Co-star Kathy Bates won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Annie Wilkes, the unbalanced fan of a series of romance novels written by Paul Sheldon (played by James Caan).
Somewhere, in the middle of nowhere, George Lucas, America's number-one filmmaker, has just met Frannie Filks, his number-one fan. George Lucas used to make Star Wars for a living. Now, he's making it to stay alive. The first film from North Carolina startup KWerky Productions, "Forcery" is a 54-minute spoof of Rob Reiner's 1990 movie of Stephen King's "Misery" (we even parodied the Castle Rock intro). With over a hundred sly gags and in-jokes for fans of Lucas and King (and everyone in between), "Forcery" is a hilarious psychological thriller about obsessing on a galaxy far, far away. "Weird Al" Yankovic saw it and raved "Nice job! Wow, how'd you ever get Ron Howard and Steven Spielberg to be in it? What a coup!"
