| Synopsis |
|
| Angela Bettis - who stars in NBC's new three-hour TV version of Stephen King's Carrie - told SCI FI Wire that she was initially apprehensive about playing the title role. "Absolutely, absolutely," Bettis said in an interview. "First of all, I think the first [Brian De Palma-directed] movie is amazing, and I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole." Bettis, whose genre credits include Bless the Child and the upcoming horror film May, added, "I also love Stephen King's story, and, I don't know, I couldn't imagine anyone else doing the remake, because I'm such a Stephen King fan. I just didn't want anyone else to mess with the story. So I took it upon myself to [play Carrie]. And I tried to do something totally different from [what Oscar-nominated] Sissy Spacek [did in the 1976 feature]. I tried to approach it from a different angle, for a different time, and tell a kind of a different
story based on the same [material]. I hope, I believe, that's what we've done." Carrie, which is a backdoor pilot for a proposed weekly series that would star Bettis. |
