The dollar baby "The Boogeyman" is based one of King's early stories, "The Boogeyman" first appeared in March 1973 issue of Cavalier.

The story of this dollar baby is about the same as the first Boogeyman by Jeffrey C. Schiro in 1982. When Giuliano did this movie, the aim was to do a "new" film with a mix of the book and of the first movie, about a man who tells his strange story to a therapist that a boogeyman who killed his children.
